So, here I am, at mom's house for 3 weeks (housesitting/catsittiing/plantsitting/mail collecting/etc) and it is DAY ONE and I am already 'bout to crawl out of my skin screaming..."this aint home!!!" So I am looking for advice on how to relax here. Anybody else always feel weird about spending even one night in someone else's home??? I have always been like this. But, I must admit, didn't expect it to hit me in the face at mom's house of all places. Anyway, advice and whatever else you have to offer is mucho appreciated!!! Thanks. :)

i get that too...i havent found much i can do about it though. one time staying at my moms grandmothers house which is huge and creepy as hell, i got stuck with her old room and this was after she had passed away. i was just thinking that she had been in the bed i was on before she died. its probably the most creeped out and uncomfortable ive been staying away from home. music always takes my mind off things.

How close are you to your own place? Perhaps you can go get some things from your place and bring them to Mom's? Pillows, blankets, bedside trinkets, soaps, tea, hot cocoa, etc. Things that have your scent and vibes.

Do you have to STAY at Mom's? Can you just go over there in the evenings, to take care of things and check everything and then go home to sleep?

I find that burning incense helps to change the mood of an environment. I also find cats to be a comforting presence. Most times I like quiet, but sometimes noise can be a comfort-turn on the t.v. or the radio. For me, being afraid of the dark, I always turn lots of lights on, in new places.

    :)
